A few of our friends and family
We not looking to save the world, just to brighten our own little corner of it. We've been touched by the lives of many animal friends cats, dogs, fish, horses and birds. We found homes for some, and kept some close by. We have wonderful friends in the dog community, not just OEB's but all breeds, that were wiped out or seriously affected by the devation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. We have openned our doors as a temporary haven to all breeds of dogs displaced by this storm.
Another of our rescue efforts are directed to PMU rescue. What is PMU? Simply put, PMU stands for Pregnant Mares Urine. The hormone estrogen is extracted from the urine to manufacture hormone replacement drugs, such as Premarin (PREgnant MARes urINe). There are thousands of women who need this drug to ease them through their menopausal years.
Recently Wyeth Pharmaceuticals has cut production by 50%. The end result is 20,000 stallions, mares and foals without homes. Some are being rescued by individuals, some by non-profit groups, but the majority are sent to slaughter for human consumption.
We have are fortunate to have the space and resources that allow us to help those in need. For information on who is looking for a home, please e-mail us.

Rosie
Rose's former owner had just purchased a new home and decided that she didn't go with the decor. She was scheduled to be put to sleep. We decided that Rose was a Rosie and was really a Bulldogge crammed into a Pug's body. We brought Rosie home, introduced her to our "pack" and made room for her on the edge of the bed. She's now part of our family living comfortably with our retired parents, enjoying daily walks, 12:00 treats, monthly romps and sleep overs with her bulldogge family. Oh she not only believes she's a Bulldogge, but she must have Blue Heeler in her background too.. because she can herd the horses like a pro! |

Elmeera
A Polish Arabian, Elmeera, (meaning Princess) was already loaded on the meat wagon with Willow. When she came to us scared, weak and every rib showing. She was also this funny brown color. It took us hours of careful combing to untangle her mane and tail and to discover that she's pure white! We were lucky to find the original breeder of Elmera who's real name is Easter Song. Today she is healthy, happy, teaches new riders the joys of riding and is rather pleasantly plump. |
